Guest Blogger, Tammy Hischke weighs in on a life-changing book addressing diets, cancer, and a Crazy Sexy YOU!!
“Crazy, Sexy Diet Eat your Veggies, IGNITE Your Spark and Live like you MEAN IT”
author: Kris Carr
Every once in awhile a book comes along and makes you go “hmm”. Or in my case, slam on the brakes, do an immediate right turn, and plunge into the realm of the nutritional abyss. Crazy, Sexy Diet is that book. I call it my “gateway” book. Yes, I know the title has the evil “D” word and coming from the fitness industry where we are told (and tell our clients) DIETS DON”T WORK, it is unusual for me to even entertain a book that is a self proclaimed “diet” book. Because, yes it is true….DIETS DON’T WORK. But it was recommended to me by a client and if anyone takes the time to recommend a book to me, I am going to at least check it out! Within the first paragraph, Ms. Carr told me I had Crazy Sexy potential, AND she called me gorgeous! Well, reel me in, Kris Carr, and stick me in an ice cooler! I’m hooked!
As I continued to read, I learned that Carr was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2003. Instead of planning to die, she planned to live! This book is a peek at the knowledge she gained through her journey of living with cancer. She is now a best-selling author, a top motivational speaker, and wellness coach. She is the subject of the inspirational documentary, Crazy Sexy Cancer, which she wrote and directed for TLC, and the author of the award-winning Crazy Sexy Cancer book series. Carr regularly lectures at medical schools, hospitals, wellness centers, and universities such as Harvard. Television appearances include: The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, The Early Show, Today Show, Access Hollywood, Good Morning America and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
The Crazy Sexy Diet is not only good for people who are battling with cancer but for anyone who wants to lose weight and get their body back on track health-wise. The diet is about prevention through changing the types of foods you eat. In a “whole food” nut shell, it’s a plant based feast! Juice it, blend it, eat it raw, or lightly cooked. Just don’t eat the processed crapola, stay clear of mucus forming mustaches, and keep the flesh off your plate. If that is a bit too harsh, she encourages you to at least let them take a backstage to your glowing greens and cellulite bashing whole foods. And to make sure you get a GREAT start, she offers a fabulous 21 day cleanse (out with the old, in with the new). All that crazy sexy potential was put to the test! Well, I did it…my crazy sexy husband too, and we feel AWESOME!
While Crazy Sexy Diet’s main focus is on the food you put in your body and how it affects your overall health, the book also branches out and talks about lifestyle changes that can reduce your stress level and help steer you clear of disease. Meditation, yoga, and even dry brushing are discussed. She finishes with some great recipes that even your meat loving “other” will devour! Take note, Carr has a new cookbook set to come out in the fall of 2012, and to keep yourself on track through the new year, a great website for loads of love and support. Check it out at CrazySexyLife.com.
So unlock your crazy sexy potential, gorgeous! Take 2012 by storm and eat your veggies! Your health deserves it!
